Following light to moderate rainfall on Thursday, the monsoon is back in full swing in Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall and potential thunderstorms and lightning in many areas over the next few days. A yellow alert has been issued for districts in the Bastar and Surguja divisions, while Raipur, Bilaspur, Balrampur-Ramanujganj, Jashpur, Koriya, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Surajpur, Sarguja, Korba, Balrampur, Raigarh, Jashpur, Bijapur, and Dantewada have been placed under a yellow alert. An orange alert has been issued for Rajnandgaon, Durg, Bemetara, Kabirdham, and Mungeli. The monsoon has brought an average of 994 mm of rain across the state this season. The highest rainfall has been recorded in Balrampur district, at 1344.5 mm, and the lowest in Bemetara, at 472 mm. A monsoon trough, extending from Sri Ganganagar to the Bay of Bengal, is contributing to the expected increase in rainfall. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation is present over Odisha and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, also impacting the weather.
