Chhattisgarh Wins Overall Championship Trophy for the 13th Consecutive Time

Raipur, November 16, 2025/ Chhattisgarh has once again created history in the All India Forest Sports Competition. Achieving first place in the medal tally with a spectacular performance at the 28th All India Forest Sports Competition held in Dehradun. Chhattisgarh has secured the championship for the second consecutive year with 150 medals and 578 points. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap congratulated all the players and teams for their excellent performance in the competition and extended their best wishes for similar outstanding performances in the future.
It is noteworthy that the 28th All India Forest Sports Meet was organized from November 12 to November 17 in Dehradun. In this competition, Chhattisgarh secured the first position by winning 74 gold, 34 silver, and 42 bronze medals. A total of 253 members participated from Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh players also achieved several excellent individual performances. Among them, Best Male Athlete Nikhil Zhalko won 5 gold medals in swimming, Best Female Athlete Sangita Rajagopalan won 4 gold and 1 silver medal in badminton and tennis, and Best Athlete Female Open Thota Sankirtan won 5 gold medals, earning the title of “Golden Girl”. Similarly, Best Athlete (Male Veteran) Sukhnandan Lal Dhruv won 5 gold medals, and Best Athlete (Female Veteran) Charulata Gajpal won 4 gold medals.
Chhattisgarh has won the Overall Championship Trophy for the 13th consecutive time. At the closing ceremony of this sports competition, Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmeet Singh and Uttarakhand Forest Minister Shri Subodh Uniyal jointly presented the Overall Championship Trophy. Ms. Shalini Raina received the trophy on behalf of Chhattisgarh. Additional Chief Secretary Mrs. Richa Sharma and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri V. Srinivas Rao extended their congratulations and best wishes to all the players.
In the All India Forest Sports Competition, Kerala secured the second position with 31 gold medals, and Karnataka secured the third position with 25 gold medals. The host state, Uttarakhand, finished in sixth place. A special initiative was also undertaken to connect this competition with environmental conservation. Under the concept of “One Sport, One Forest,” a tree was planted in the name of every medal-winning player, giving the players a message of nature conservation along with sports.
