In a decisive move against administrative corruption, the Chhattisgarh government has suspended an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) following the emergence of a sensational sting video. The officer, who was currently stationed in the Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) district and previously served in Bilaspur, was seen in the footage allegedly negotiating illegal payments with a spa center operator. Home Minister Vijay Sharma, taking immediate cognizance of the viral video, ordered the officer’s suspension to uphold the integrity of the state’s police force. Following the minister’s directive, the Home Department issued a formal suspension order on Thursday, attaching the officer to the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Nava Raipur.
The suspension follows a period of mounting scrutiny over the police’s handling of spa center regulations in the region. The state government has emphasized a zero-tolerance policy toward such misconduct, ensuring that the officer remains under strict observation at the headquarters during the investigation. He has been granted a subsistence allowance as per rules but is strictly prohibited from leaving Raipur without prior authorization. This action is intended to serve as a stern warning to other officials regarding the consequences of engaging in unethical practices and misuse of authority.
