A fierce encounter is currently underway in the Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh between security forces and Naxalites. The operation began Thursday morning in the forests of the Mainpur area and has resulted in the deaths of 10 Naxalites. Among those killed is Naxal commander Manoj (alias Balakrishna or Bhaskar), who had a one-crore-rupee bounty on his head. Security forces had been informed of Naxal presence in the area, leading to a joint operation by E-30, STF, and CRPF Cobra commandos.
