Balod. On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, child marriage was stopped in Arjunda police station area today due to the activeness of the district administration. District Program Officer Vipin Jain said that information about child marriage was received in a village of Gunderdehi development block. The joint district level team formed under the direction of Collector Inderjit Singh Chandrawal investigated the case in the said village, in which the bride of the village was going to get married to the groom of Kabirdham district on May 10, on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. On the basis of the information received, after examining the facts related to the date of birth in the marks list of the bride and groom, it was found that the groom has not completed 21 years of age.

After investigating the case, the district level joint team counseled the concerned family and informed them about the legal situation. Along with this, District Program Officer, Women and Child Development Department, Kabirdham was also informed about the above incident and requested them to take immediate action in this regard. After this, the team under the leadership of the Child Protection Officer also discussed this matter with the groom’s family and gave them legal information regarding not doing child marriage and child marriage.
