Reports indicate a significant increase in cattle smuggling activities within the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh, specifically in the Saraypali region. This area is known as a hub for cattle smuggling within the state. The smugglers transport cattle to Odisha, which then serves as a transit point for onward transportation to slaughterhouses in West Bengal. Local vigilantes have expressed their frustration, citing lack of administrative support in preventing these illegal activities. They claim that authorities are not effectively tackling the issue.
