    Date – January 21, 2026

    Several important decisions were taken today in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at the Chief Minister’s Residence Office located at Civil Line here –

    1) The Council of Ministers approved the Chhattisgarh Excise Policy for the financial year 2026-27 and authorized the department for all related ancillary proceedings.

    2) The Council of Ministers has approved the allotment of approximately 40 acres of land identified in Sector-18 to Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) on lease for a period of 90 years for the establishment of their Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, to set up a high-quality educational institution in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.

    SVKM is a renowned institution, active in the field of education since 1934 and currently operates 30 educational institutions, providing education to over one lakh students annually from pre-primary to doctoral programs. In 2025, this institution ranked 52nd in the NIRF University Ranking. The establishment of this national-level institution in Nava Raipur will further strengthen modern and quality education in the state.

    3) The Council of Ministers decided to sign an MoU with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) for the establishment of 04 new entrepreneurship centers in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. This MoU will be significant in promoting the IT/ITES industry and the tech start-up ecosystem in the state.

    Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) operates 68 centers, with 60 located in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities of India. Software Technology Parks of India, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of Chhattisgarh, will promote 133 domain-specific start-ups in the next three to five years through AI, MedTech (based on herbal medicine and forest produce), Smart City, and Smart Agri entrepreneurship centers. The state government will establish an Electronics System Design and Development (ESDD) center through STPI to support students, entrepreneurs, researchers, and industries in developing prototypes of ESDM products, which will provide all necessary support to 30 to 40 hardware start-ups and MSMEs annually.

    4) The Council of Ministers has taken necessary decisions for the effective operation of labs in district hospitals, community health centers, and primary health centers of the state to ensure the availability of quality diagnostic facilities in all government health institutions of Chhattisgarh state, strengthen current resources, and increase the number of tests as per prescribed standards.
