A woman in Balrampur, Chhattisgarh, identified as Sunita, has been arrested for murdering her husband. The couple’s marriage occurred on May 11th. Police reports indicate that Sunita made three prior attempts to kill her husband before succeeding with a poisoned meal. She reportedly disliked her husband’s looks and had resisted the marriage, but was pressured into it by her family. After the wedding, Sunita was reluctant to live with her husband and eventually concocted a plan to get rid of him. Following a panchayat meeting that forced her to return to her husband’s home, she bought a pesticide and mixed it into a chicken curry that her husband ate, resulting in his death. Police acted on a complaint filed by the deceased’s mother, leading to Sunita’s arrest and confession.
