Chhattisgarh Becoming Leading State in the Country in Terms of Rail Facilities – Chief Minister Shri Sai

Raipur, February 2, 2026/On the historic budget provision of ₹7,470 crore for railway infrastructure development in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that due to the continuous efforts of the double-engine government, unprecedented transformation is being witnessed in the railway sector in Chhattisgarh today. The budget provision of ₹7,470 crore in 2026–27 is a record increase of approximately 24 times compared to the annual average of ₹311 crore during 2009–14. Currently, rail works worth ₹51,080 crore are in progress in the state, which include important works like new track construction, redevelopment of stations, and safety upgrades.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the commencement of the Raoghat–Jagdalpur rail project connecting the remote tribal area of Bastar to Jagdalpur is an invaluable gift from the central government to the tribal society of Bastar, which will pave a new path for regional development.

The Chief Minister said that along with the Paramalkasa–Kharsia corridor, new freight corridors have also been approved. With these projects, the number of passenger trains in Chhattisgarh will approximately double in the coming times.

He said that under the Amrit Station scheme, 32 railway stations in the state are being modernized, including stations like Dongargarh (Phase-I), Ambikapur, Bhanupratappur, Bhilai, and Urkura which have been completed. Along with this, 2 pairs of Vande Bharat Express and 1 pair of Amrit Bharat Express services in the state are providing fast, safe, and modern rail facilities to passengers.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that since 2014, with the construction of approximately 1,200 kilometers of new rail tracks, 100 percent electrification, 170 flyovers/underpasses, and the installation of modern safety systems like ‘Kavach’, Chhattisgarh is becoming one of the leading states in the country in terms of rail facilities.

On behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai heartily thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw for these epoch-making initiatives. He said that this development is not limited to railway tracks but is infusing new energy into the state’s trade, tourism, industry, employment, and the lives of the common people.
