Raipur. Various organizations across the country have called for ‘Bharat Bandh’ on 21 August today against the Supreme Court’s decision on creamy layer in SC-ST reservation. Dalit and tribal organizations have called for Bharat Bandh demanding strong representation and security for marginalized communities. The National Confederation of Dalit and Adivasi Organizations (NACDAOR) has demanded justice and equality for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
Chhattisgarh is a tribal dominated state. The effect of the bandh is being seen here too. But if we talk about the capital Raipur, there is no effect of the bandh. All schools-colleges, bus services, petrol pumps and shops are open in Raipur. The police in the city is on alert mode.

Bahujan Samaj Party, Sarva Adivasi Samaj and Bharatiya Buddhist Mahasabha have supported the bandh in Chhattisgarh. The working president of Sarva Adivasi Samaj said, Bharat Bandh has been organised today, its effect is visible in Chhattisgarh.
Chhattisgarh Transport Federation and Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce have not supported this demonstration. People of the society are organizing a rally in the capital. Attempts are being made to close shops. The capital police is on alert mode. If there is a forced closure or a ruckus, action will be taken.
Mixed effect in Bilaspur
The mixed effect of Bharat Bandh is visible in Bilaspur city. Shops are open at many places and closed at others. Schools and colleges in the district are open, essential services have been exempted from the bandh.
Widespread impact of bandh in Kanker
The widespread impact of the Bharat Bandh called by the tribal community is visible in Kanker district. All business establishments, educational institutions and traffic in Bhanupratappur, Antagarh, Pakhanjur, Durgukandal areas are completely closed. The impact of the bandh is visible in government offices. The common roads have been blocked. Public life is being badly affected by the bandh.
