It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, the state government is very sensitive towards the expansion of health facilities in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai has set a target of doubling the health budget to expand health facilities in the state. For a healthy Chhattisgarh, it is important that the health system of the state remains in the hands of skilled doctors. But 24 years ago, there was only one government medical college in Chhattisgarh which had only 100 MBBS seats. In the last 24 years, the number of government medical colleges in the state has increased from 1 to 10 and MBBS seats have also increased to 1460. 291 postgraduate seats have also been increased in government medical colleges due to which the state is getting specialist doctors.

That Chhattisgarh, which had the status of a sick state when it was born on 1 November 2000, is now a thing of the past. At present, the government of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai understands very well that if Chhattisgarh has to be made a developed state on the lines of India by the year 2047, then health is the first link which will make the state capable and prosperous. It is a matter of happiness that the present government of the state is making continuous efforts on this and better results are also being seen.

State Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal is working to advance health services consciously. At the state level, hospitals like DKS and Mekahara are being equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, while at the divisional level, the work of super specialty hospitals is continuing. Similarly, Ayushman Arogya Mandir at the district and block level is taking special care of the health of the people of the state.
