Dongargarh and Bagh river police have busted two major cases of illegal liquor smuggling. Lakhs worth lakhs of rupees were being brought from Madhya Pradesh to Chhattisgarh under the guise of vegetable vehicles, but the vigilance of the police thwarted these plans of smugglers. Police have arrested inter -state smugglers with liquor worth millions.
First case: liquor smuggling under the guise of vegetable in Dongargarh
On 28 January 2025, Dongargarh police revealed a big case of illegal liquor smuggling. Police had received information that smuggling is being done from Madhya Pradesh to Chhattisgarh by hiding liquor in vehicles that bring vegetables. The police stopped two vehicles Yudha DI and Vista car by blocking the village Kumhadatola road. When searched the vehicles, 35 boxes of Goa English whiskey and 10 boxes of country liquor were recovered. The total amount of liquor recovered is estimated at 405 liters and the price of Rs 2,36,250. Along with this, the total price of seized vehicles, five mobile phones and other ingredients is Rs 14,62,250. The police arrested five inter -state liquor smugglers, named Rajesh Tagde, Ishwar Sahu, Rauvan Chandrakar, Sohail Minni, and Rishikesh Hatila. A case was registered against all these under the Excise Act.
Second case: Alcohol was hidden under cabbage in Bagh river
The Baganadi police have also exposed liquor smuggling. A pickup vehicle coming from Deori towards Rajnandgaon (MH-40-CD-2629) collided with the truck in an attempt to escape the MCP on the Personal Czech post. After this, the driver escaped from the spot, but when the police searched the vehicle, 196 bottles of liquor kept hidden under the cabbage sacks were recovered in it. Alcohol included Royal Stage, Royal Challenge, McDowell No. 1 and Blender Pride Bottles. The price of 147 bulk liters of liquor has been estimated at Rs 2,36,595. The total assets including the seized vehicle are Rs 10,36,595. The police have started investigation by registering a case against the unknown driver.
Checking campaign being conducted in the district to stop illegal activities: TI
Dongargarh TI Jitendra Verma said that due to the implementation of the model code of conduct in the electoral atmosphere, the police is keeping a close watch on illegal activities. Continuous checking operations are being conducted across the district. These action by Dongargarh and Bagh river police has made it clear that even new methods of smugglers cannot avoid the grip of law. This vigilance of the police is very important to maintain peace and fairness in elections.
