Administration’s initiative to curb road accidents: Now wearing helmet is compulsory, mandatory for employees too, action will be taken on violation of rules, Collector issued order

Bemetara. The administration has taken cognizance of the increasing deaths in road accidents in the state. To prevent accidents, Collector Ranbir Sharma has now made helmets compulsory in Bemetara district. It is also mandatory for government employees to wear helmets while driving two-wheelers while going to and coming from office. Let us tell you that the matter of increasing accidents in the state was raised in the Assembly on Thursday. During this, the members expressed concern and said that helmets should be made compulsory to prevent accidents.

The meeting of the District Level Road Safety Committee Bemetara was held on Thursday, in which during the review it was found that the highest number of injured and dead persons in road accidents occurring during the period from 1 January 2024 to 15 July 2024 have been of two-wheeler drivers. In these accidents, the death/serious injury of two-wheeler drivers has occurred due to not wearing helmets. In the meeting, the Collector, expressing concern over the increasing accidents, has made it mandatory for two-wheeler drivers to wear helmets while driving under Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.

From the point of view of safety, the Collector has made it compulsory for all government officers/employees to wear helmets while driving two-wheelers to and from their offices. This order will also apply to bank employees, co-operative society employees and employees of all educational institutions. Strict action will be taken against the officer/employee violating the order under the Motor Vehicles Act and the rules made in this regard. This order will be effective immediately.
