A horrific industrial disaster has struck the Sakti district of Chhattisgarh, where a massive explosion at the Vedanta Limited thermal power plant has claimed the lives of 17 workers. The incident occurred on a Tuesday afternoon at the facility located in Singhitarai village. According to preliminary reports, a high-pressure steel tube carrying steam from the boiler to the turbine suddenly ruptured, releasing superheated steam at temperatures reaching 700 degrees Celsius. The sheer intensity of the blast and the subsequent heat wave left workers in the vicinity with no chance of escape, resulting in immediate fatalities and severe injuries. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to the site, and the injured were rushed to specialized medical facilities in Raigarh and Raipur. Superintendent of Police Prafulla Thakur confirmed that several workers are still undergoing treatment, with many in critical condition.
