In a shocking incident from Kasdol, Chhattisgarh, a school farewell event turned perilous when students and youths performed dangerous stunts on moving vehicles. The viral video on social media prompted swift police action, resulting in the arrest of 16 individuals, including minors, and the seizure of four vehicles.
The event unfolded at Swami Atmanand School in Kasdol during a farewell ceremony. Videos showed students perched precariously on the roofs and doors of Scorpio SUVs and other cars, leaning out of windows at high speeds. Several participants were underage students, adding to the gravity of the situation.
Kasdol police, acting on directives from the Superintendent of Police, launched an immediate investigation based on the circulating footage, social media posts, and local intelligence. Among the 16 detained are four vehicle drivers and owners, alongside 12 minor students. During interrogation, all admitted to performing the stunts in the heat of celebratory excitement.
The minors were sternly reprimanded in front of their parents and counseled on the severe risks these acts pose—not just legally, but to their own lives and public safety. Police issued a strong warning: any repeat offenses will invite stricter legal consequences.
Four vehicles were impounded, and cases under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act were registered against the owners. The arrested drivers include Shubham Chelk (19), Aditya Kumar Kashyap (19), Vikas Sahu (22), and Gajadhar Sahu (45).
Authorities highlighted this as a stark example of social media’s dangerous influence, where impressionable youth chase viral fame through reckless behavior. An appeal has been made to parents, schools, and young people to monitor activities closely and steer clear of such hazards.
This crackdown underscores the shared responsibility of schools and communities to prioritize discipline and safety during events like farewells. It sends a clear message: the law will not spare violators, regardless of age.
