Raipur is set for a pivotal moment as the Chhattisgarh government unveils its budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the state assembly today at 12:30 PM. Finance Minister OP Chaudhary will present what marks the third budget of the Vishnu Dev Sai administration, signaling a strong push towards rapid development, robust infrastructure, and inclusive growth.

The budget session kicked off on February 23 with a business advisory committee meeting, building anticipation for this key fiscal blueprint. Early indications suggest alignment with national priorities championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, striking a balance between security enhancements and economic progress.

Particular emphasis is expected on the Bastar region and surrounding areas, with substantial allocations likely for roads, telecommunications, education, healthcare, and livelihood programs. This approach aims to bridge gaps in remote terrains, fostering stability and prosperity.

Beyond security, the budget may spotlight initiatives to boost startups and MSMEs, create employment opportunities for the youth, and elevate Raipur to metro-city standards. Rural economies could see accelerated panchayat-level development schemes, reinforcing grassroots empowerment.

Good governance remains a cornerstone, with measures to attract industrial investments and amplify welfare schemes for the underprivileged. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, in a recent social media post, described the budget as the ‘foundation stone of developed Chhattisgarh,’ underscoring commitments to farmers, the poor, youth, women, and tribal communities.

Echoing the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, Sai affirmed the government’s resolve to propel the state towards self-reliance and abundance. Last year’s budget stood at Rs 1.65 lakh crore, up from Rs 1.47 lakh crore the previous year, setting a precedent for ambitious scaling.

The session runs until March 20, with discussions on the 2026-27 fiscal estimates scheduled for February 25-27, followed by a break. This budget is poised to be a milestone, extending development’s reach to every corner of Chhattisgarh.
