Chennai is set to experience misty mornings through March 1, as per the latest bulletin from the Regional Meteorological Centre. Light fog will blanket the city and surrounding districts during early hours, while scattered showers are expected across Tamil Nadu until the same date.

The weather department attributes this to remnants of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, now weakened but still influencing moisture-laden sea breezes. These conditions are fueling instability, particularly in southern Tamil Nadu and select northern districts where moderate rainfall is likely.

Puducherry and Karaikal regions face similar prospects of light to moderate rain. Statewide, precipitation could persist up to March 1, driven by shifting sea winds and rising humidity levels.

Fog alerts extend to districts like Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, and Ranipet, especially on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Reduced visibility on inland roads and highways has prompted authorities to urge drivers to exercise extra caution during dawn hours.

Daytime temperatures are also on the rise, with maximums in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry expected to exceed normal levels by 2-3°C until February 28. This mix of morning haze and afternoon heat underscores ongoing seasonal transitions in the region.

Experts advise farmers and communities reliant on rainfall to monitor local updates closely. The weather office promises regular advisories as conditions evolve, ensuring timely information for safety and planning.
