The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has announced the successful extradition of Lakhvinder Kumar, an individual reportedly linked to the expansive Lawrence Bishnoi criminal network, from the United States. Kumar was deported and arrived in India on October 25, 2025, where he was immediately apprehended by Haryana Police at Delhi Airport. This development marks a significant achievement in India’s strategy to combat international crime and retrieve fugitives.
Kumar is wanted in Haryana for a string of severe criminal acts, including extortion, threats, illegal firearms, and attempted murder. His return was facilitated by the CBI’s coordination of an INTERPOL Red Notice, issued in October 2024 at the request of the Haryana Police. This global alert allowed U.S. law enforcement to identify and deport Kumar, who will now face charges in India. The CBI, in its capacity as India’s INTERPOL National Central Bureau, leveraged robust international cooperation channels, including the BHARATPOL platform, to work with U.S. agencies. This operation is one of many, with over 130 criminals having been brought back to India in recent years through similar collaborative efforts. The apprehension of Kumar further disrupts the operations of organized crime groups like the Bishnoi gang, which poses a significant threat across multiple regions.
