CBI arrests senior GST intelligence officer for taking Rs 60 lakh bribe

NEW DELHI: The CBI has arrested a senior intelligence officer, operating within the workplace of the Directorate Normal of GST Intelligence (DGGI) in Ghaziabad, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 60 lakh, officers stated on Sunday.

A businessman had complained to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) about an alleged call for of Rs 1 crore by way of the officer to turn favour to his father in an ongoing case in opposition to him, they stated.

Following the grievance, the CBI registered a case in opposition to officer Mohit Dhankar for allegedly not easy the bribe, the officers stated.

“It was once additional alleged that the accused demanded bribe of Rs 1 crore thru non-public individuals/touts for appearing respectable favour to the complainant’s father in a case on the DGGI, Ghaziabad,” CBI Spokesperson RC Joshi stated.

He stated the company laid a lure and stuck a personal individual, Rakesh Sharma, accepting the bribe of Rs 60 lakh as first instalment on behalf of a public servant.

Later, Dhankar was once additionally stuck, the officers stated. “Searches are being performed nowadays on the premises of the accused,” Joshi stated.
