In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through Jharkhand’s Dumka district, unidentified criminals opened fire on bus stand agent Arun Singh on Tuesday morning. The brazen attack unfolded right near the DIG office in a high-security area, sparking widespread panic among locals.

Eyewitnesses report that Arun Singh was walking past the DIG residence when assailants lying in wait unleashed a barrage of bullets. One shot struck him in the back, leaving him critically injured. The attackers fled the scene swiftly, vanishing into the morning crowd.

Local residents and quick-acting police rushed the victim to Dumka Sadar Hospital. After initial treatment, doctors assessed his severe condition and airlifted him to Mission Hospital in Durgapur, West Bengal, for advanced care. Medical teams describe his status as precarious, with life hanging in the balance.

This marks the third assassination attempt on Arun Singh, who doubles as a newspaper agent. Previous assaults, including one involving gunfire, hint at deep-seated rivalries or organized vendettas. Police suspect personal enmity or a larger conspiracy targeting the 35-year-old repeatedly.

Senior officers cordoned off the area immediately, launching a full-scale investigation. CCTV footage from nearby cameras is being scrutinized, with sketches of suspects in circulation. ‘We are exploring every angle and will nab the culprits soon,’ vowed a top police official.

The incident raises serious questions about law and order in Dumka, a town often plagued by gang violence. As Arun fights for survival, the community demands swift justice and enhanced security around public hotspots. Authorities have ramped up patrols, but residents remain on edge.
