In a bold declaration from Ayodhya, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Vishwanath Pal asserted that his party will contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections independently, without seeking any crutches from alliances. Speaking exclusively to IANS, Pal took sharp aim at the NDA and INDIA bloc, questioning their strength if they truly believe in their capabilities.
‘People call BSP weak, but the truly weak are those who hunt for support sticks. BSP is strong and will fight with full might,’ Pal declared. He challenged the alliance partners: ‘If you claim to be strong, why form coalitions? Contest alone, and the ground reality will become clear to all.’
Pal didn’t hold back on the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) recent move to celebrate BSP founder Kanshi Ram’s birth anniversary as ‘PDA Day.’ Dismissing it as drama by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, he recalled how Yadav, as chief minister, canceled holidays on Kanshi Ram’s jayanti and renamed districts and schemes named after the icon upon gaining power.
‘Mayawati created Kasganj district in Aligarh division and named it after Kanshi Ram. SP changed it immediately after coming to power. They shut down numerous institutions and schemes in his name,’ Pal pointed out, highlighting BSP’s enduring legacy.
On the controversy surrounding Swami Avimukteshwaranand, Pal urged all parties to steer clear of religion-based politics. ‘Dr. BR Ambedkar’s Constitution ensures equal respect for all castes, religions, and communities. No humiliation of any religious leader, Shankaracharya, or individual based on caste or faith should be tolerated,’ he appealed to the government.
As UP gears up for 2027, Pal’s words signal BSP’s intent to reclaim its solo warrior status, banking on its core Dalit-Bahujan base amid shifting political sands.
