BSP Chief Mayawati Condemns US Tariffs, Demands Action

These remarks were made by Mayawati during a BSP review meeting held in Lucknow. This statement follows a period of perceived warming in relations between the US and India after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s positive comments on the partnership between the two countries. The US has increased tariffs on Indian goods by 50 percent, creating tension between the two countries, and India has criticized the US actions as unjustified. The statement is particularly relevant as it comes amid concerns from exporters in Uttar Pradesh, who are facing the negative impact of the tariffs imposed on Indian imports by the US. They are warning about potential job losses, order cancellations, and a reduction in market access.
