Bengaluru: In a scathing attack on the Congress party, BJP MLC CT Ravi accused them of crafting foreign policies purely for political gain rather than national interest. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Ravi underscored a fundamental difference between the two major parties.
“We have always prioritized the nation’s benefit over partisan advantages in shaping our foreign policy,” Ravi asserted. “Our focus remains steadfast on India’s welfare, not electoral wins, and we will continue this approach unwaveringly.”
Ravi didn’t hold back on reacting to the passing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. He questioned the widespread public mourning across India, asking, “What connection does Khamenei have with our country? Where were these same people when our citizens were brutally killed in Pahalgam? They didn’t think it necessary to publicly express grief then. Some even declared allegiance to Sharia over the Constitution. Such individuals cannot claim to be true Indians.”
Turning to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s demand for a parliamentary debate on Iran, Ravi welcomed discussion but hit back hard. “By all means, let’s debate. But don’t run from it. BJP has never politicized national issues; that’s Congress’s playbook. We stand firm for India’s interests without compromise.”
Ravi also defended India’s strong ties with Israel, challenging Congress’s apparent discomfort. “If India and Israel share cordial relations, what’s Congress’s problem? They view global matters through a political lens, which is unacceptable. Israel has been and will remain a steadfast friend to India. Why does Congress oppose this alliance?”
His remarks highlight deepening partisan divides on foreign affairs, with BJP positioning itself as the guardian of national priorities amid rising geopolitical tensions.
