Durgapur, January 28: In a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, BJP legislator Agnimitra Paul accused her of doing absolutely nothing for the state’s people during her long tenure. Speaking exclusively to IANS on Wednesday, Paul highlighted the missed opportunities that have left Bengal’s youth jobless and migrating elsewhere.

Paul recalled the infamous Singur incident in 2008, when Tata’s Nano project was driven out of the state under Banerjee’s influence. ‘She promised masses of jobs for our youth back then,’ Paul said. ‘But after over a decade in power, her government has delivered zero employment opportunities.’

The BJP leader pointed out repeated election promises of job creation that remain unfulfilled. ‘Youngsters are forced to seek work in other states because Mamata’s administration has failed them spectacularly,’ she added. Paul criticized Banerjee’s much-hyped investment summits, calling them empty spectacles with no real industrial growth or jobs to show.

Contrast this with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit, Paul noted optimistically. ‘PM Modi has pledged to transform West Bengal into a manufacturing hub, leveraging our abundant resources. But Mamata has squandered every chance given by the people.’

As unemployment bites harder, Paul’s remarks underscore growing frustration with the TMC government’s economic track record. With elections looming, such criticisms could reshape Bengal’s political landscape, pushing voters to demand accountability for broken promises.
