New Delhi erupted in political fireworks as BJP leaders unleashed a barrage of criticism against Rahul Gandhi and the opposition for their uproar over former Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane’s yet-to-be-published book. Accusing the opposition of manufacturing controversies due to a lack of real issues, BJP figures labeled the entire episode a desperate ploy to derail parliamentary proceedings.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan led the charge, pointing fingers at Rahul Gandhi’s stubbornness for stalling the entire budget session. ‘Rahul Gandhi’s obstinacy has crippled the House’s functioning,’ Paswan declared. He condemned the no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker, praising the Speaker for always providing equal opportunities to both sides.
Fellow Union Minister Giriraj Singh echoed these sentiments, questioning the opposition’s fixation on an unpublished book. ‘If the publisher confirms it hasn’t been released, why the fuss?’ Singh asked, slamming Rahul Gandhi for holding Parliament hostage in an undignified manner and lacking basic parliamentary etiquette.
BJP MP Ravi Kishan dismissed the opposition’s tactics as pure ‘drama,’ attributing their frustration to Prime Minister Modi’s repeated victories and BJP’s electoral dominance across states. ‘They’re making fools of themselves on the national and global stage,’ Kishan quipped.
Other BJP voices, including MPs Manoj Tiwari, Arun Govil, and Manan Kumar Mishra, piled on. Tiwari highlighted the irony of debating a non-existent book, urging the opposition to get it published first. Govil accused Rahul of flouting Lok Sabha rules and imposing his own terms, while Mishra called the no-confidence move against the Speaker ‘nonsense’ and a waste of public money amid opposition boycotts.
The clash underscores deepening divides in Parliament, with BJP urging a return to substantive discussions on public issues rather than theatrical standoffs.
