BJP seeks Malik’s resignation after arrest through ED; Sena says he was once held in ‘crafty way’

MUMBAI: The BJP on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik following his arrest through the ED, however Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut countered it announcing that the NCP chief will have to no longer be requested to step down as he was once held in a “crafty way”.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Malik in a cash laundering case related to the actions of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, his aides and the Mumbai underworld.

The 62-year-old NCP chief was once taken to the ED’s workplace in south Mumbai for wondering within the morning and was once later arrested. Malik is the primary serving cupboard minister to be arrested on cash laundering fees.

Following his arrest, Maharashtra BJP leader Chandrakant Patil demanded that the minister will have to be got rid of from the state cupboard.

Chatting with newshounds, he mentioned, “There’s a legislation, which states {that a} minister will have to be got rid of from his publish if he’s dealing with prison fees. Malik will have to be got rid of or requested to step down from his publish.”

Except for being the executive spokesperson of NCP, Malik is the Minority Affairs and Ability Building Minister within the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress’s Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) govt.

“Two leader ministers of Maharashtra had resigned from their publish up to now after dealing with such critical allegations. This is a custom within the state to step clear of a constitutional publish until the costs are cleared,” he mentioned.

BJP chief Kirit Somaiya mentioned, “After former house minister Anil Deshmukh, now Malik has been arrested below the continuing probe through the ED. The ones ministers who’re indulging in corrupt practices within the Uddhav Thackeray-led govt will face the results. We can make Maharashtra corruption-free.”

Countering the BJP’s assault, Sanjay Raut mentioned in a tweet, “Makes an attempt of backstabbing are on since it’s not conceivable to struggle the MVA face-to-face. Let or not it’s.
