New Delhi erupted in political fervor on Saturday as BJP workers staged a massive protest outside the Congress headquarters. The demonstration was a direct retaliation to the Youth Congress activists’ disruptive antics during the prestigious India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam.
Delhi BJP president Virender Sachdeva had announced the march a day earlier, vowing to lead supporters from Mansingh Road roundabout straight to the Congress office. He condemned the alleged ‘hooliganism’ at the summit venue, where global leaders gathered to showcase India’s AI prowess.
Speaking to media at the protest site, Delhi BJP media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor highlighted the voluntary turnout of party workers. ‘India takes pride in this global AI summit, which promises billions in revenue and thousands of jobs,’ he said. Kapoor accused Rahul Gandhi of venting political frustration through the protests, warning that the nation would not forgive such sabotage.
Sachdeva earlier claimed the 10 individuals detained for ‘shirtless’ protests were not genuine Congress workers but hired troublemakers. As India’s youth displayed innovations under PM Modi’s leadership, such interruptions were deplorable. He further slammed Congress for tarnishing India’s image on international stages.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari joined Sachdeva, leading chants of ‘desh ke gaddar’ against Rahul Gandhi. From Karnataka, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi demanded an apology from the Congress chief, while UP Minister Anil Rajbhar labeled the Youth Congress behavior irresponsible amid 20 nations’ leaders witnessing India’s AI leadership.
The protests underscore deepening political divides as India positions itself as a global tech powerhouse. With accusations flying, the AI summit’s success remains a flashpoint in the ongoing BJP-Congress rivalry.
