New Delhi is witnessing a fresh political showdown as BJP parliamentarians accuse the Leader of Opposition of manufacturing controversies out of thin air, particularly over the India-US trade deal. The opposition has been vocal, claiming they learned about the agreement from US President Donald Trump rather than the Indian government itself. They demand a full parliamentary debate on the matter.
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal dismissed these claims, asserting that the opposition excels only at creating chaos. He highlighted Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s clear statements in both houses of Parliament, assuring no compromises on India’s agriculture or dairy sectors. The deal promises substantial benefits for the MSME sector, yet the opposition resorts to misleading statements to confuse the public. Such tactics have no place in national politics.
Khandelwal further criticized the opposition for dodging substantive discussions and violating parliamentary norms with their disruptive behavior. Instead of engaging inside the House, they prefer staging protests on stairs or outside, making empty declarations. The public is watching closely, and this is why the opposition is steadily losing relevance.
BJP MP Kiran Chaudhary emphasized the gravity of the Leader of Opposition role, which demands dignity and responsibility. The public holds high expectations, but the opposition keeps raising trivial or anti-national issues, exposing their true colors. She questioned why anyone would deny them the floor when no one even bothers listening to their repetitive rants.
Adding to the chorus, BJP MP Arun Singh pointed to the opposition’s string of electoral defeats fueling their frustration. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in particular, has a habit of fabricating issues from nothing, repeatedly failing in his attempts.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey took a personal jab, contrasting Rahul Gandhi’s casual T-shirt and pants with the traditional sarees worn by his grandmother Indira Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi, despite her foreign origins. He mocked Gandhi’s disregard for khadi and swadeshi values, questioning his respect for Parliament.
This escalating rhetoric underscores deepening divides ahead of key legislative sessions, with BJP urging a focus on national interests over petty politics.
