New Delhi, February 12: In a sharp rebuttal to Congress allegations over the final voter list for the Assam Assembly elections, BJP MP Dharmavir Singh asserted that only legitimate Indian voters have the right to cast their ballots. Speaking exclusively to IANS, Singh dismissed the opposition’s claims as baseless politicking.
“The Congress has nothing better to do than hurl accusations,” Singh remarked. He emphasized the Election Commission’s independence, stating it performs its duties impeccably. “Foreigners must not be allowed to vote. This has nothing to do with religion, caste, or region—only Indian citizens qualify,” he added firmly.
Shifting gears, Singh addressed the controversy surrounding former Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane’s unpublished book. He accused Rahul Gandhi of lying in Parliament, urging the opposition leader to shoulder responsibility. “Rules are rules, and the Speaker enforces them. Gandhi isn’t barred from speaking but must follow parliamentary norms,” Singh noted.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Singh highlighted India’s economic surge and diplomatic triumphs. “The economy has transformed dramatically. Opposition once questioned our foreign policy, but now the US and Europe are signing deals with us. With no real issues left, they resort to excuses. India is progressing—opposition should applaud it.”
On Bangladesh’s parliamentary elections, Singh expressed dismay. “I dislike the state of affairs in neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan. They’ve strangled democracy. These polls are mere facades for the world, not reflections of internal truth.”
Singh’s comments underscore BJP’s firm stance ahead of key electoral battles, reinforcing voter integrity and national progress.
