Bhopal’s political arena heated up during the ongoing Madhya Pradesh Assembly budget session. Congress MLAs staged a dramatic protest on Thursday, brandishing thalis to slam the state government’s policies. They raised thunderous slogans against the BJP-led administration, drawing attention outside the house.

BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma fired back sharply at the spectacle. Speaking to reporters, he quipped that the Congress is merely cooking up ‘khayali pulao’ – fanciful daydreams with no substance. ‘The Congress has run out of real work,’ Sharma declared. ‘They’re creating needless noise because they lack genuine issues. This is just an attempt to mislead the public right outside the assembly.’

Sharma didn’t hold back in his critique of the party’s track record. ‘Congress has never done justice to India, farmers, daughters, or students,’ he asserted. ‘That’s why the people have rejected them. Everyone knows which party stands with us.’ He pointed to their empty thalis as a metaphor for their hollow promises, now reduced to clanging metal for attention.

Taking aim at Rahul Gandhi, Sharma said, ‘Their leader is empty, and the public doesn’t like him – so who would like the party? Those around him are just banging empty plates.’ He highlighted Congress’s distress in Madhya Pradesh, especially over BJP’s people-centric initiatives.

In contrast, Sharma praised the double-engine government’s efforts under PM Modi. ‘We’re running numerous schemes to solve public problems,’ he noted. ‘Citizens can now directly approach officials for resolutions. Unlike past regimes that ignored grievances, leading to their own dismissal, today’s government listens.’

The exchange underscores deepening political divides in the state, with BJP positioning itself as the proactive force while dismissing opposition tactics as desperate theatrics. As the session continues, such clashes are likely to intensify.
