New Delhi marked a solemn occasion on February 28 as prominent BJP leaders, led by national president Nitin Nabin, paid heartfelt tributes to India’s first President and Bharat Ratna recipient, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, on his death anniversary. The outpouring of respect underscores the enduring legacy of the freedom fighter and architect of modern India.

Nitin Nabin, in a poignant post on X, described Dr. Prasad’s contributions to nation-building as eternally inspiring. He highlighted the late President’s role in safeguarding constitutional values, strengthening democratic traditions, and his exemplary simplicity, dedication to public service, and sense of duty. ‘These qualities will continue to inspire future generations to embrace high ideals in public life,’ Nabin wrote.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari joined the chorus with a respectful salute, calling Dr. Prasad a towering figure whose life exemplified selfless service. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar offered humble homage on the ‘nirvan diwas,’ remembering him as the nation’s gem.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Dr. Prasad as a great freedom fighter and symbol of national service. He emphasized how the President’s life of truth, restraint, and duty inspires ethical conduct even today. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta bowed deeply, lauding his simplicity, scholarship, and unwavering commitment from the independence struggle to chairing the Constituent Assembly.

Haryana CM Nayab Saini and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also paid glowing tributes, focusing on Dr. Prasad’s foundational work in Indian democracy, his austere lifestyle, and leadership in the freedom movement. Their messages collectively paint a picture of a leader whose humility and vision continue to guide the nation.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s journey from a modest background in Bihar to the highest office remains a beacon of integrity. As leaders across states reflect on his life, it serves as a reminder of the values that shaped India’s democratic foundation. His legacy endures, urging current and future leaders to prioritize nation above self.
