In a bold move to empower the younger generation, BJP MP Anurag Thakur announced the launch of the ‘Yuva Changemaker’ fellowship program in Himachal Pradesh. Aimed at increasing youth participation in politics, the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed and self-reliant India.

Speaking to journalists in Dharamshala on Friday, Thakur emphasized the leadership potential of India’s youth. ‘PM Modi has called upon young Indians to join politics. This program, starting on Basant Panchami, will open doors for thousands of youth from every district and region of Himachal Pradesh,’ he said.

The enrollment process kicks off on Himachal Day, January 25, with online forms available until March 23. Organizers expect over 10,000 participants. District-level boot camps will be followed by a five-day state-level camp and a grand finale where winners will be announced.

From the finalists, 21 exceptional youths will be selected through a transparent process by an independent panel. Evaluation will be based 40% on theory and 60% on practical skills. Each selected fellow will receive a one-year internship fellowship of Rs 1,21,000.

Thakur detailed the rigorous selection: ‘Candidates will spend 24 hours in villages to demonstrate problem-solving abilities. Selected fellows will be supported by a team of 100 volunteers to drive real change in their areas over the next year.’

The program offers hands-on experience working with MLAs, MPs, and other elected representatives. Participants will engage in social service, policy-making, and implementing government schemes, equipping them to contribute to a better Himachal.

This initiative is poised to nurture the next generation of leaders, fostering innovation and development at the grassroots level. As Himachal steps into a new era, ‘Yuva Changemaker’ promises to be a game-changer in political engagement.
