In a shocking incident from Bihar’s Shivhar district, a newlywed wife allegedly poured hot oil on her sleeping husband, leaving him critically injured and fighting for life in hospital. The brutal attack happened just a month after their marriage, sending ripples of horror through the local community.
25-year-old Munna Shah, a mason from Minapur Balha ward-3, was deep in sleep on Wednesday afternoon when his wife Afsera Khatoon heated oil and poured it over his upper body. Severe burns scorched his skin, prompting family members to rush him to a nearby hospital where doctors describe his condition as precarious.
Munna had recently returned from Hyderabad, where he worked as a laborer. The couple tied the knot on January 12 this year, with Afsera hailing from Basahiya village in Piprahi block. Locals are stunned by the ferocity of the assault in such a short marriage.
Speaking to reporters, Munna’s father Nazir Shah revealed that his daughter-in-law never warmed to her husband and kept her distance. ‘She heated the oil kept at home and deliberately poured it on my son while he slept,’ he alleged, demanding strict action.
Police acted swiftly upon receiving the complaint. Piprahi station house officer Uma Kant Singh confirmed the gravity of the case, stating a formal FIR has been registered against Afsera based on the family’s statement. Investigations are underway to ascertain motives and ensure justice.
This horrifying case underscores rising concerns over domestic violence in newly formed households, raising questions about marital harmony and conflict resolution in rural Bihar. As Munna battles for survival, the community awaits the legal outcome while grappling with the brutality unfolding in their midst.
