In a stunning development shaking up Bihar’s political landscape, Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh, national spokesperson and medical cell head of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), has resigned from the party led by former minister Mukesh Sahni. Speaking exclusively to TV9 Digital, Singh unleashed a barrage of allegations against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and VIP chief Mukesh Sahni, pinpointing deep-seated discord within the Mahagathbandhan that led to their crushing defeat in the recent assembly elections.
Singh joined VIP ahead of the polls, drawn by the promise of a dynamic young leadership duo in Tejashwi and Sahni to revitalize Bihar. However, he revealed a stark reality: ‘What we mistook for youthful vigor was nothing but childish tantrums and immaturity.’ He accused Tejashwi of behaving like a ‘prince,’ disrespecting allies and workers alike, especially during ticket distribution.
‘Tejashwi constantly humiliated Mukesh Sahni,’ Singh charged, even as Sahni sang praises of the Yadavs. Seat-sharing talks spiraled from 60 to 40, then 24 seats, only for RJD to dump unwanted constituencies on VIP post-NDA’s deal. VIP’s national president was sidelined in Goraul-Bauram, and the state president faced RJD candidates too. ‘Our dignity was trampled, and the Nishad community watched it all,’ Singh said.
The lack of coordination extended to campaigns, with no seriousness or unity among workers. Singh lamented that staying with such ‘irresponsible youth’ harmed Bihar. The Nishad voters, feeling insulted, swung decisively to NDA.
Singh praised Sahni’s rise from humble beginnings but questioned why he swallowed repeated humiliations, including being offered a ‘deputy CM toy’ by an overconfident Tejashwi, who acted as if victory was assured. ‘Sahni praised Lalu more than Tejashwi praised his own father, but got betrayal in return,’ he noted. This one-sided loyalty cost them dearly at the polls, exposing the alliance’s fatal flaws.
