A government school in Begusarai, Bihar, is embroiled in a controversy over the teaching of Urdu. The Urdu teacher is claiming that the principal and other teachers are hindering his efforts to teach Urdu and are mistreating him. Students and their parents have filed a complaint with the District Education Officer regarding the situation. The District Education Officer has pledged to conduct a personal investigation. The incident took place at the Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya Pahasara Bhaban Gama in the Navkothi block of Begusarai district. Mohammad Aavid was appointed as an Urdu teacher through the BPSC TRE-3 process. Following his appointment, Aavid requested to teach Urdu to Muslim students. However, the principal and other teachers refused to provide separate classes for Urdu. The teacher claims that he has been facing constant obstacles in teaching Urdu, despite his appointment. The teacher states that he was appointed on May 15th, and was subsequently subjected to hostile treatment by the principal on June 27th for requesting to teach Urdu. He has submitted written complaints to various authorities. After the department sought an explanation from the principal based on his complaint, the principal allegedly threatened to remove students from the school. He has been teaching for eight hours a day but has not been allowed to conduct Urdu classes. He is seeking a fair inquiry into the matter. Parents and students, who have expressed their desire to learn Urdu, allege that they were coerced into signing papers under threat of being removed from the school. The District Education Officer has assured that a thorough investigation will be carried out.
