In a daring midnight heist, thieves targeted a Tata Motors showroom in Bihar’s Araria district, making off with two brand-new Tata Nexon SUVs worth nearly 30 lakh rupees. The incident unfolded at Mahadev Chowk under Araria Nagar police station limits, leaving the owner stunned and local traders on edge.
Eyewitnesses and preliminary investigations reveal the culprits executed their plan with chilling precision. They first severed the power supply by tampering with a nearby electricity pole, plunging the showroom into darkness. With no alarms triggered, they smashed the shutter and swiftly drove away the gleaming vehicles. But their greed didn’t stop there – the thieves also ripped out the CCTV DVR to erase evidence, along with the showroom’s inverter and battery.
One curious detail emerged: the gang attempted to steal a third car but abandoned it on the road outside after realizing it had a number plate attached, possibly to avoid immediate tracking.
Showroom owner Manoj Patodia, a resident of Purnea, lodged a complaint with the police against unidentified thieves. Responding swiftly, Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the theft. Officers are scouring footage from surrounding CCTV cameras, hoping to identify the perpetrators.
The brazen robbery has sparked fear among Araria’s business community. Shopkeepers are demanding round-the-clock police patrols at night to prevent such audacious crimes. ‘We can’t sleep easy knowing thieves can strike so boldly,’ said one local trader.
Police assure the public that the case is top priority. ‘We’ve registered an FIR and our SIT is working tirelessly. The culprits will be behind bars soon,’ SP Kumar vowed. As investigations intensify, Araria residents await justice in this high-stakes car theft saga.
