Patna is buzzing with anticipation as the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) convenes its crucial National Executive Committee meeting on Sunday. Party insiders reveal that Tejashwi Yadav, the fiery Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly, could be elevated to the role of executive president, signaling a major power shift within the party.

Lalu Prasad Yadav, the aging patriarch grappling with health challenges, is expected to formally hand over greater reins to his son. This comes amid whispers of organizational restructuring, with several key decisions on the agenda. Over 20 state presidents, executive members, MLAs, MLCs, and MPs are attending, making it a powerhouse gathering.

The meeting kicks off with Lalu’s inaugural address, focusing on national politics and RJD’s future roadmap. It’s the first major conclave since the assembly elections, where RJD faced a stinging defeat. Sources indicate a scathing report on the poll debacle could lead to action against nearly 300 leaders and workers.

State president Mangni Lal Mandal has already submitted the detailed analysis to Tejashwi, who made his first post-election visit to the party office on Saturday. Decisions on state chief and general secretary posts are also anticipated, aiming to streamline the party’s command structure.

Adding spice, Tejashwi’s sister Rohini Acharya recently fired salvos on social media, questioning his leadership amid reports of internal family tensions. Despite vowing silence for 100 days post-Nitish Kumar’s government formation, Tejashwi launched a blistering attack on the Nitish administration and BJP over Bihar’s law and order crisis.

He accused BJP leaders of spreading propaganda that crime surged since his foreign vacation return, rather than cracking down on criminals. JD(U)’s Neeraj Kumar hit back, mocking Tejashwi’s broken promise of silence. As the meeting unfolds, all eyes are on whether Tejashwi emerges with full command, reshaping Bihar’s opposition dynamics.
