While the family mourned, the people felt proud of Ankit Yadav’s martyrdom. Many soldiers from this village are in the army, but this is the first time a soldier from this village has been martyred. Ankit Yadav joined the Bihar Regiment in 2009. He and his three brothers have served in the army. Ankit Yadav is survived by his two sons, wife, parents, and other family members.

He had visited the village a month ago and had gone back on duty. Four days before his martyrdom, he had called his ward member to inquire about getting his wife’s voter ID. Today, his mortal remains reached the village of Rangra, where he was given a state funeral. Ankit’s 4-year-old son lit the pyre, a sight that brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
