In a startling raid at Kota railway station, authorities uncovered a horrifying scene inside the pantry car of the Awadh Express, the popular train linking Maharashtra and Bihar. The surprise inspection, led by Divisional Commercial Manager Kishor Kumar Patel, aimed to ensure passengers receive clean, safe, and quality meals.
The check took place on Platform 1 as the train halted briefly. Teams from relevant departments combed through the pantry, revealing substandard raw ingredients and deplorable hygiene conditions. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Jain confirmed that the food items fell far short of mandated standards.
Potatoes, poha, lentils, chickpeas, and more were found unfit for consumption, posing serious health risks to travelers. In the presence of the Chief Health Inspector, all contaminated materials were immediately confiscated and destroyed near the tracks to prevent any reuse.
The operating agency faced stern warnings against future lapses, coupled with hefty fines and disciplinary actions. Key officials, including Chief Catering Inspector Hansraj Bairwa, Chief Health Inspector Vishnu Sharma, and IRCTC Regional Manager Vishal Yadav, oversaw the operation.
