The Patna district administration has taken action following the issuance of a fraudulent residence certificate in the name of ‘Dog Babu’ in Masaurhi. A revenue officer has been suspended, and an IT assistant has been dismissed from service. The District Magistrate, Dr. Thyagarajan SM, is overseeing a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

The preliminary investigation revealed that an online application, submitted on July 15th, utilized a Delhi-based woman’s Aadhaar card. The certificate was issued without proper verification of the submitted documentation.

The investigation has revealed that both the IT assistant and the revenue officer were at fault. They are charged with making inaccurate digital signatures and violating established rules. The individual whose identity was misused is also being investigated. The district administration responded immediately upon learning of the situation and initiated a formal investigation.

Revenue Officer Murari Chauhan is recommended for suspension, and the IT assistant has been removed from their position. An FIR has been filed against the unknown applicant and both officers under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The police investigation is ongoing, with strict actions being planned against those involved. The ‘Dog Babu’ residence certificate has been revoked. The Bihar Administrative Reforms Mission Society has mandated strict adherence to document verification procedures on the NIC’s Service Plus portal.

Furthermore, the government intends to use AI on this portal to prevent future fraudulent activities. This incident highlights the inadequacies of the system and the Bihar government’s focus on digital fraud. Those responsible will face strict consequences.
