In a shocking incident at Purnia Medical College, two young children vanished from their ailing mother’s bedside, leaving her in utter despair. Gudiya Devi, battling severe tuberculosis that has left her unable to speak or walk, had been admitted for nine days. Her 4-year-old son Shivam and 3-year-old daughter Lakshmi were lured away by two women in yellow saris on Monday evening, under the pretext of buying biscuits.

The tragedy unfolded in the women’s ward of the bustling Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Gudiya, originally from Katihar district, had been living a hand-to-mouth existence in Purnia’s Line Bazar after her husband’s death from the same disease. Kicked out by in-laws and later evicted by her landlord, she resorted to begging on the streets to feed her children: 9-year-old Shivani, Shivam, and Lakshmi. A collapse from her worsening condition led to her hospitalization via ambulance.

Eyewitness accounts from Shivani reveal the culprits had been scouting the ward for days. Posing as friendly visitors, the women had even given Shivani 210 rupees previously, building false trust. On the fateful evening, they enticed the younger siblings outside and fled. CCTV footage captured the pair hurriedly exiting the premises, hands gripping the terrified children, confirming the abduction.

Police from Phanishwarnath Renu TOP, Ke Haat, and three other stations swarmed the scene, scouring footage from surrounding routes. The daylight kidnapping from a crowded hospital exposes glaring security lapses. As investigations intensify, the voiceless mother weeps silently, her tears speaking volumes of her heartbreak. Authorities vow swift action to reunite the family, but questions loom over hospital safety protocols.
