Patna, Bihar, is reeling from a horrific crime where a disabled man was murdered near a temple, killed by being struck with stones. The incident has created a sense of outrage within the local community.
The murder took place near a temple in the Gauri Sthan area, within the jurisdiction of the Maner police station. The victim, Jeet Lal Rai, was a resident of Sherpur and was staying with his brother-in-law, Rudal Rai, in Jivrakhan Tola. The initial police assessment indicates the murder was planned.
As the investigation progressed, the police questioned numerous individuals. The temple cleaner, Laxman Rai, identified Gorakh Rai and his brother as the perpetrators. CCTV footage confirmed that an individual attacked a person sleeping on the temple platform with a stone before fleeing. Another individual was seen keeping watch. The assailant was later identified as Bulu Rai from Jivrakhan Tola, with Laxman Rai as the lookout. Police have arrested both Bulu Rai and Laxman Rai.
The investigation unveiled that the murder was committed to falsely accuse others. A loudspeaker had been stolen from the temple a few days earlier. Laxman Rai was questioned by the police in connection to the theft. Suspecting that Gorakh and his brother were behind their interrogation, the suspects murdered the disabled man on the platform. Their intent was to make it appear as if Gorakh and his brother had committed the crime. The police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
