The Patna Metro is preparing to begin operations, offering a new mode of transportation for the city’s residents. The inauguration, scheduled for October 6th, will be led by Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar. The initial phase will see the launch of a 9-kilometer section on the Red Line, which will include three stations: ISBT, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath. The Patna Metro Rail Corporation has been approved for operations by the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner, paving the way for the launch date set by the Urban Development Department. The metro has completed its trial runs and will operate at 40 kmph, initially using three coaches.

    Cultural Immersion in Metro Coaches

The metro coaches will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Bihar. They will feature artwork depicting Patna Golghar, Mahavir Temple, and Madhubani paintings, alongside other cultural and historical representations. The three coaches have a combined capacity of 1000 passengers. There will be seating for 138 passengers, with standing room available for 900 passengers.

    Advanced Safety and Communication

Each metro coach will be equipped with 360-degree CCTV cameras and an emergency communication system including buttons and microphones for direct communication with the driver. The Patna Metro is anticipated to bring significant benefits to Patna, addressing traffic congestion and providing a more efficient transportation option for commuters.
