Patna is set to immerse in devotion as grand Maha Shivratri processions take over the streets today. With crowds flocking to Khajpura Shiva Temple and multiple routes buzzing with celebrations, Patna Traffic Police has rolled out extensive traffic diversions starting 2 PM Sunday until late night.
Traffic SP Sagar Kumar announced that from 2 PM until the processions conclude, no regular vehicles will be allowed under Rajabazar Flyover from Dumra TOP Chowk to Jagdev Path Chowk. City buses from Rukanpura to Zoo Gate No. 1 will skip the underpass and use the flyover instead. Heavy vehicles face a strict ban inside the city until midnight, parked at outer checkpoints.
Nehru Path (Bailey Road) sees key changes: Autos heading to Patna Junction or Income Tax Golambar from Jagdev Path divert via Fulwari Jail Mor. Vehicles to AG Colony or Digha from Nehru Path turn at pillar no. 4 onto Ambedkar Path and Maurya Path. East-to-west traffic near Dumra TOP heads to airport west gate, looping via Rajabazar Flyover, Rukanpura, Rupaspur Bridge underpass with a U-turn.
Emergency services like ambulances and fire trucks get priority passage everywhere. Security is airtight with DM Dr. Thyagarajan SM and SSP Kartiikeya K Sharma overseeing drone surveillance, CCTV monitoring, and 75 key points manned by magistrates, police, and lathi teams. Report suspicions to 0612-2219810, 2219234, or dial 112.
Avoid Rajabazar and Khajpura areas. Plan extra time for airport or Patna Junction trips. Follow traffic directives to dodge jams and ensure smooth festivities.
