Patna erupted in political excitement on Sunday as Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, formally launched his political career by joining the Janata Dal (United) at the party’s state headquarters. The event, long speculated in political circles, marked a significant moment for the JDU, with senior leaders and thousands of supporters gathering to witness the young leader’s entry.

Party’s national executive president Sanjay Jha officially inducted Nishant into the JDU fold during a grand ceremony at the Karpoori Sabhaghar. Prominent figures including Union Minister Lalan Singh, Bihar JDU president Umesh Kushwaha, and state minister Shravan Kumar graced the occasion, underscoring the party’s high expectations from the new member.

In his debut political address, Nishant exuded confidence and gratitude. ‘I am honored by the trust placed in me by the party and the people,’ he said. ‘I pledge to work tirelessly as an active member to strengthen JDU at the grassroots level.’ He respectfully acknowledged his father’s decision to move to the Rajya Sabha, calling it a personal choice he fully supports.

Nishant reserved special praise for his father Nitish Kumar’s two decades of service. ‘What my father has achieved in 20 years fills not just me, but the entire state of Bihar and the nation with pride,’ he declared. ‘His contributions will be remembered forever, and I will strive to carry forward that legacy to the people.’

The young leader urged party workers, senior leaders, and the public to maintain unwavering faith in Nitish Kumar. ‘Keep your morale high and continue trusting my father,’ he appealed, signaling his intent to build on the chief minister’s enduring popularity.

Umesh Kushwaha, expressing delight over Nishant’s induction, highlighted how the move bolsters JDU’s future prospects. As Bihar gears up for upcoming elections, Nishant’s entry is seen as a strategic infusion of fresh energy into the party ranks. Political analysts predict this could reshape the dynamics within the NDA alliance in the state.
