As Bihar welcomes its newly formed government, a recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has unveiled the financial status of the state’s top leadership. The analysis of 24 out of 27 ministers in Nitish Kumar’s cabinet reveals that a staggering 88%—or 21 out of the 24 studied—are crorepatis. This high concentration of wealth in the cabinet reflects a growing trend in Indian politics where financial strength often goes hand-in-hand with political representation. The report is based on the self-sworn affidavits filed by the ministers during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, providing a transparent look at the assets and liabilities of those at the helm of the state. According to the findings, Rama Nishad, the representative from the Aurai constituency, stands at the top of the wealth ladder with total assets valued at a massive Rs 31.86 crore.
