The political environment in Bihar is charged as the state prepares for upcoming assembly elections. Political parties are working to solidify their positions and build alliances. The ruling NDA is currently holding NDA workers’ conferences across several districts. However, these conferences continue to be plagued by incidents. The latest incident occurred in Muzaffarpur, where a conference was marred by a violent clash. Supporters of Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Prabhat Kiran and former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidate Komal Singh engaged in a physical altercation, leading to the throwing of chairs and several injuries.

The NDA workers’ conference took place on Thursday at Jarang High School in the Gaighat block of Muzaffarpur, but was disrupted by the clash. During the meeting, supporters of the JDU and LJP clashed. The confrontation involved supporters of Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Prabhat Kiran and former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidate Komal Singh, with Prabhat Kiran being the son of former JDU MLA Maheshwar Yadav.

The disagreement escalated into a physical fight. Both sides engaged in a heated exchange, with chairs being thrown. Supporters on both sides started throwing chairs at each other, resulting in many chairs being broken. As a result of the violent clash, at least 12 people were injured.

The incident is reported to have been triggered when a leader made offensive remarks from the stage, leading to anger among the workers. The infuriated workers first began throwing chairs and then proceeded to break them, causing chaos at the conference venue.

Following the incident, the workers at the conference started shouting slogans like “Remove outsiders, save Gaighat,” creating a tense environment. The angry workers began breaking chairs. The use of chairs as weapons caused people to flee the school premises.

The police who were present on the scene tried to control the situation. Leaders on the stage also made efforts to calm down the workers, but the sloganeering persisted, and the conference was disrupted.

This isn’t the first instance of a disturbance at an NDA workers’ conference. On September 21, a similar incident occurred at a workers’ conference in Sakatpur Buniyaad Vidyalaya, Ali Nagar assembly constituency, Darbhanga district. The unrest was caused by the perceived neglect of JDU workers by former BJP district president Vinay Paswan. Previously, a conference in Jamui was also disrupted by a physical fight between a minister and a former MLC on the stage.
