Violence erupted in Munger, Bihar, following a land dispute, resulting in approximately 50 rounds of gunfire. Two groups clashed over the contested land, and one person sustained injuries during the incident. The dispute centered on the illegal occupation of land.

Local residents reacted to the violence by blocking the road connecting Munger to Lakhisarai. Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

The conflict reportedly started on Saturday, triggered by a dispute over a cemetery wall. This escalated into stone-pelting and then gunfire. The land in question, near the Harda petrol pump, is owned by Dashrath Manjhi, with an individual named Bablu Malik attempting to take possession. The land has been the subject of a dispute for the past 25 years and is currently being considered in court.

Bablu Malik was advised by the local police two days before the incident not to construct a wall on the disputed land. Despite this, he began construction, leading to protests that resulted in the exchange of gunfire. Shots were fired in an attempt to assert dominance, and people were forced to seek cover from the gunfire. Ankush was struck by a bullet during the firing.

According to his family, Ankush, who works in another state, had just returned from Delhi. He was shot while on his way home after swimming in the Ganga River. He received a gunshot wound to his left leg and was promptly hospitalized. The local population protested by blocking the National Highway between Munger and Lakhisarai. Doctors have reported that the bullet entered near his left knee and exited, passing through the bone. Ankush’s condition is reported to be serious.

Upon learning of the incident, the police, led by SP Syed Imran Masood, arrived with a large police force. The SP confirmed the clash and the gunfire, stating that 22 people from both sides had been arrested. The situation is under control, and video footage is being used to identify additional suspects.
