Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi on Wednesday, ushering in a pleasant change in weather. Thursday saw the capital cloaked in dark clouds and more rain. The Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather alert, with predictions of intense rainfall continuing today, with maximum and minimum temperatures of 31 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively. Further, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana are also expected to receive rainfall on July 31. Very heavy rainfall is predicted for eastern Rajasthan on the same day.

Thunderstorms and rain are expected across the Western Himalayan region and plains over the next seven days. Heavy rainfall is predicted for the Konkan and Ghat regions of Maharashtra on July 31. The region is expected to see continuous rain for the next 6-7 days. From July 31 to August 4, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura can expect thunderstorms and rain in various locations.

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience very heavy rainfall between July 31 and August 4. These states are also expected to experience thunderstorms and strong winds in the coming five days. Strong surface winds are forecast in South Peninsular India for the next three days.
