In a chilling crime that has shocked Bihar’s Rohtas district, a husband allegedly murdered his wife after she objected to his extramarital affair. The gruesome discovery unfolded when locals found her decomposed body stuffed inside a red trolley bag amidst a garbage heap near Dehri’s vegetable market.
The victim, Maroon Khatoon, originally from Sakaldih village in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district, had married Mohammad Kayamuddin from Jakki Bigha in Dehri two years ago. Tensions brewed in their marriage due to Kayamuddin’s illicit relationship with his maternal aunt’s sister. Frequent arguments escalated, culminating in the fatal attack, police sources revealed.
On Sunday morning, residents near Station Road spotted the suspicious bag in the trash pile at the sabzi mandi. Alarmed by the foul odor and unusual placement, they alerted authorities. Dehri police station in-charge Sanjay Tripathi rushed to the scene with a team, summoning the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts.
Upon opening the bag, investigators were horrified to find the young woman’s naked body, contorted and packed first in a sack, sealed with tape, then crammed into the trolley and bound with plastic. The brutality stunned the community, sparking widespread outrage.
Maroon’s family had grown suspicious when Kayamuddin called claiming she had eloped after a fight. They waited anxiously at her parental home, only to learn of the horrific find. Her mother directly accused the son-in-law of the murder, demanding swift justice.
Police investigation identified the victim and led to an FIR against five individuals, including the prime suspect. Two have been arrested and remanded to custody, while probes continue to unravel the full motive and any accomplices. This case highlights the dark underbelly of domestic violence in the region, urging stronger vigilance against such heinous acts.
